Coastal karst cave on the Circeo promontory, part of the system of caves reachable only by sea on the south-western side, among the dozens of cavities dotting this stretch of limestone coast shaped over millennia by the sea and rainwater.
Discovered in 1970, this small cave lies about 7 metres above sea level and has the typical appearance of coastal caves: its walls show both the holes bored by date mussels and patches of fossil sand now cemented in the cavities. The cave sediments have yielded Pleistocene fossil fauna and tools of the “Mousterian and denticulate” type, as well as clearly Aurignacian objects.
