Ancient church of Santa Maria della Sorresca, on Lake Paola near Sabaudia, which belonged first to Benedictine monks and later to the Knights Templar, who from 1239 used it as a base, together with the Rocca di San Felice, to control a long stretch of coast between Terracina and Anzio against pirate raids and tensions with the empire of Frederick II.
