Church dedicated to Santa Maria degli Angeli, a place of worship of the Circeo community.
The Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli stands at Pantano Marino and is the town’s parish church. The complex was built in 1995 and its architecture shows a clean, modern style. The main building has a central plan and is built in reinforced concrete, while the roof is made of massive curved wooden beams that bring movement to the static building.
The complex was built thanks to the generosity of the faithful and with funds from the 8 per mille tax contribution. The Sanctuary of Santa Maria degli Angeli also houses the exhibition known as “The Treasure of the Shroud”: the Sanctuary of San Felice Circeo – the only one in the world dedicated to the Shroud – displays an authentic life-size reproduction of the Shroud, in a raised central position, for the worship and veneration of the faithful, accompanied by photographic exhibitions and educational films. The Parish of Santa Maria degli Angeli, a destination for worshippers, pilgrims and tourists, offers suitable reception and catering services. The large square outside the church hosts the fine bronze group of “The Redeemer and the Sinful Woman”.
